World Political Guilt ~ European Political Guilt Time is running out ~ as Y2K will NOT be completed on time ~ Public Awareness must be brought to center stage ~ CONTINGENCY PLANNING ~ Avoid rationing and MARSHALL LAW ~ the longer the Public are kept in the dark, the harder it will be for them to work with Government and facilitate orderly planning.

Since I wrote in April, WEB comments regarding Y2K have exploded ~ but this really means that people who use computers have awaken, however there has been no political attempt to enlighten the public at large.

Joe Q. Public is still as unaware as ever (Y2K Oh! The computer nonsense).

An added danger I have discovered is the person who works with a few PC's, and his company has been tested etc and is Y2K "compliant" - and so are his customers - there is nothing to worry about. This person has only thought (selfishly with blinkers) about his own little world in which he currently feels safe - and those with whom he discusses Y2K probably perceive him as a computer "expert" …what a Plonker.

Many of those aware of the problems report the same difficulty in getting friends and relatives to accept/believe the problems that will arise. This has to be put down to political attitudes ~ The public is to be informed ON A NEED TO KNOW Basis --- we must avoid panic at all costs. ~ The stampede for survival items as Y2K implications dawns on the public will terrify these same politicians (THEY WILL PANIC) and there will be parts of the GLOBE where there will be no alternative but to introduce RATIONING and Marshall LAW.

EUROPE'S GUILT

The determination of the EUROCRATS to force by whatever propaganda or statistics necessary EMU on a largely unwilling population of 300Million+ beggars belief.

Let's for the moment assume that EMU is a good idea (competition for the US$ as reserve currency etc) the TIMING could not have been worse.

The conversion to the EURO is competing with Y2K for IT. Skills wasting valuable resources and in an attempt to complete both, neither will be delivered. (Remember Y2K has an immovable deadline whereas the EURO does not).

There are already calls for the EURO to be delayed until Y2K is resolved…but they are so far ignored..

What faith can Europeans have in these over-paid, over-fed, resource wasting, self-centered and pampered group of squabbling EUROCRATS to handle Y2K…..None!

The BBC has shown a program on Y2K, which I thought put the problems across very well within the 40 minutes of the program (BBC2). I suggested a repeat run of this program (catastrophe) as A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words and is more effective than scary headlines in helping people to understand.

Nuclear worries

Russia has its economic problems and as far as is known --- and has done nothing and will wait and wait (with the political turmoil they have few options). I wonder will the IMF squeeze be the catalyst to push this country to the BRINK….

ASIA
Already devastated by currency turmoil is under so much pressure imposed by the IMF who went in to bail out the irresponsible western banker's prolific lending binge that they have not begun to address Y2K (not many believe there is a problem)

Australia is now in the process/has started a public awareness program - see: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/extras/007/index.htm and I would suggest that all those who feel they have resolved the Y2K problem to click on the Link Routine that became a meltdown.

LawyersThis section of the community are nearly in 7th heaven -fantasizing over the ludicrous fee's they hope to extract from the aftermath of Y2K ..Selfish to the end never the less there has to be a legal framework.

~ Lawyers are causing delays in information being passed on that could be of use to others through fear of litigation….as lawyers say "why use one word when you can use a dozen" -- this is a sure-fire method of creating doubt and insecurity and delays in a world where TIME is more important that ever.

Financial

The permutations and what ifs of the financial world and world economy will continue to be re-appraised by the hour, people will panic when the CRASH comes, and it will.

The need is to become as self reliant as you possibly can. Think of the resources which you have can be converted quickly into cash, or are they waiting for the next rally on Wall Street, or wherever - so that you can pay off the Credit card and other bills.

If you can, put some money in Gold Bullion Coins - it's true that you cannot eat Gold, but you should be able to trade it for goods that you forgot or ran out of, or had been stolen from you.

Always budget for contingencies, remembering even the best laid plans can go wrong --

by default be planning to fail…

What Can You Do?

Think hard how you might publicly influence, cajole and/or force politicians to make the general public aware of the problems that the world faces.

Point out that whilst the western world's populations debate about various social benefits and what wonderful things they have planned (fantasy) that there will probably come a time when the resources just will not be available, and government could lose control.

It will therefore be essential for people to get used to the idea of looking after themselves, and maybe helping others not quite so fortunate -- who knows, people may actually get to like helping one and other.

Let's cross the Y2K hurdle and make use of our intelligence and communications, whilst we still have them -and then we can attempt to overcome humanity's differences of opinion and indoctrination. In the meantime buy some gold..

Don't be fooled - even if Governments started today informing the general public -- there will always be those who never plan - and will leave it to others - and this group will when hungry move from inner cities, working their way through the suburbs looting.

The more effort put into contingency planning and preparations today, the better the chances of riots and looting being contained -------
WE OWE IT TO OUR CHILDREN!!!

Nuclear disasters aside, there should be a lot of employment after Y2K -- and those that survive will have been taught valuable lessons, and just maybe there will be more cooperation amongst people!
