Prices of gold‚ silver slump in the week

Kathmandu-Himalaya (Dec 21)   Gold and silver price slumped this week as their price went down by Rs 300 and Rs 30 per tola, respectively, over the week — December 14 to 19. The market opened on Sunday with gold price fixed at Rs 52,300 per tola. The price of the bullion on Monday dropped by Rs 100 per tola to stand at Rs 52,200 per tola and continued to free fall until Tuesday.

The price of gold again fell in the same range, by Rs 100, on Tuesday and was fixed at Rs 51,100 per tola. The price of the precious yellow metal, however, increased by Rs 300 on Wednesday and was traded at Rs 52,400 per tola. On Thursday, the bullion price plunged by Rs 400 per tola to settle at Rs 52,000 per tola and remained unchanged until Friday — the last trading day of the week.

Likewise, the price of silver also went down by Rs 30 per tola during the six trading days of the week. Silver was traded at Rs 730 per tola on Sunday — the first trading day of the week. On Monday, the price of the white metal dropped by Rs five per tola to Rs 725 per tola. Silver price plunged by Rs 15 per tola on Tuesday and was traded at Rs 710 per tola. The price of the white metal continued its free fall on Wednesday by Rs 10 per tola to settle at Rs 700 per tola. Its price remained unchanged until Friday.
