Gold Forecast: Gold Cycles Dropping Into Key Low

gold cycles going downThe most recent action in Gold has seen the metal breaking firmly lower, with the metal ideally heading into a mid-term trough in the coming weeks. With that, we can take a quick look at the current position of the Gold cycles.

Gold, Short-Term

For the very short-term, the cycle that is controlling the action is the 34-day wave in Gold, which is shown again on the chart below:

From my 5/17/26 article: "any push below the 4510.10 swing low (June, 2026 contract) - if seen at any point going forward - would infer this 34-day cycle to have turned back to the downside. Going further, a turn back to the downside in our 34-day wave, if seen, would point to additional weakness into June, which is not out of line with the seasonal pattern for Gold."

As mentioned above, taking the 4510.10 figure (June contract) to the downside would infer a turn south with our 34-day cycle in Gold. This was seen, and with that this wave is viewed as pointing south into mid-June (or later), where a key bottom should form.

The next low for this 34-day component is favored to bottom the larger 72-day cycle, which is shown again below:

As mentioned in my last article, the next trough for our 72-day wave is due around early- July. From there, a sharp rally is expected to unfold, one in the range of 14-20% off of whatever trough that forms with this wave - lasting into late-Summer to early-Autumn of this year, before dropping into another 72-day low into November.

Gold's 154-Day Cycle

Going further with the above, above the 72-day cycle there is the larger 154-day wave, which is shown on the next chart:

In terms of time, this 154-day wave is also moving into bottoming range. In terms of price, the average rallies with this cycle have been some 20-25% off of whatever low that it forms, which means that a very sharp rally will follow, once this wave does trough.

Adding to the notes above, we can take a look again at the Gold seasonal pattern, shown on the next chart, below:

The Gold seasonal chart shows a key bottom for the mid-June timeframe, which is in the window of an anticipated low with the combination of 34-day, 72-day and 154-day cycles.

With the above said and noted, Gold is moving into key bottoming range (i.e., mid-June to early-July) for several of the cycles that we track, though ideally coming from lower numbers than already seen.

With that, we are watching for a new upside 'reversal point' for price, which - once taken out to the upside - will confirm this bottom to have formed. Precise details of this upside reversal figure - once triggered - are always posted in our thrice-weekly Gold Wave Trader market report. Stay tuned.

Jim Curry became involved in the markets as an investor in 1988. In the early 1990's he stumbled upon a book/methodology that would change the way he looked at the markets forever. That book was J.M. Hurst's the Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing. Hurst's concepts seemed to make perfect sense to Jim, and he has spent the years since coming up with his own cycle/technical analysis methodology.

In 1998 Jim put his cyclic methods to the test by entering the Etrade national options-trading competition, twice (his only two entries ever into the competition). In the first contest he finished in the top 10 out of over 150,000 entrants; in the second entry into the same contest, he just narrowly missed finishing in first place - over quadrupling a $100,000 account in the contest's short time span.

What you are seeing when you view my market reports is a collection of over 30-years of experience in both numeric analysis and spectral methods - and in actually trading the methodology for myself and for the subscribers of my Gold Wave Trader (which covers Gold) and Market Turns (covering U.S. stocks) reports.
