Gold Loses Early Gains and edges downwrd

March 6, 2017

New York (Mar 6)  Gold prices have given back modest early gains in late-morning trading Monday.  The gold market bears still have some technical momentum on their side after last week's solid downside pressure, which at least temporarily negated a near-term price uptrend. The U.S. dollar index is also firmer today, which is a mildly bearish outside market force working against the precious metals. April gold was last unchanged at $1,226.50.

By noon EST spot gold was down $6 at $1,227, while spot silver edged down 7 cents to $17.79.
