Gold price dips to daily low after release of Trump phone call notes that led to impeachment inquiry
New York (Sept 25) Gold prices are trading moderately down and did slip to session lows in the immediate aftermath of the release of notes from a telephone call between President Trump and the leader of Ukraine. That phone call prompted the U.S.
House of Representatives on Tuesday to open up an impeachment inquiry on Trump.
Traders and investors are apparently deeming the just-released notes as not too damning of Trump, as the stock market sold off just after the release of the notes but then quickly rebounded, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average now holding modest gains. December gold was last down $6.60 at $1,533.70.
By 11:00am EST spot gold had fallen $14 to $$1.516, while spot silver slid mor than 1% to $$18.33. However, both spot platinum and palladium were hammered down more than 1.5%.
