Treasury yields rise in US
Washington (Feb 28) The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury notes increased to 2.36% as against the Friday's close of 2.31%, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was marginally higher at 2.983 from 2.953 on Friday.
Federal Reserve increased interest rates in December 2016, and Fed chair, Janet Yellen signalled further rate hike in Fed’s next monetary policy meet.
According to market experts, expectations in the market for interest rate hike by Fed stands around 50%.
Over the past two years, the Federal Reserve has increased the rates only twice, during the December meet.
On a YTD basis, US treasury rates have declined as investors are worried about the faster increase in inflation rates and bigger deficits under the aegis of Donald Trump’s governance.
