June 4, 2018

New York (June 4)  Gold prices have lost modest early gains and are trading just below unchanged in late-morning dealings Monday. The gold market dipped when the U.S. dollar index rose from its daily low. A rallying U.S. stock market today is also a negative for the safe-haven gold market. August gold was last down $2.00 an ounce at $1,297.30.

By noon EST spot platinum had fallen $9 from day's high to $901, as spot silver inched up a mere 2 cents to $16.44.
