Recently just over 8,000 large central bank sized - four hundred troy ounce gold bars - or put more bluntly, 100 tonnes of gold bullion - were carefully transported by armed guards under the cover of darkness.

Investopedia says, “In the United States, the Federal Reserve acts as the lender of last resort to institutions that do not have any other means of borrowing, and whose failure to obtain credit would dramatically affect the economy.”

Poland brought about 100 tons of gold home from the Bank of England in a bid to demonstrate the strength of nation’s $586 billion economy, central bank Governor Adam Glapinski said.
